We support the product development project with simulation based design. For example, weld size dimensioning, bolt torque or the stiffness of a rubber isolator.
It is sometimes necessary to carry out physical testing as a complement to the analysis work. Examples are material testing, load measurements and verifying measurements. We are experienced in planning and evaluating physical tests. A FEM simulation gives the information you need in order to place sensors in the correct positions and thereby catch the desired load or response. We also have a network of partners which makes it possible for us to carry out the testing for our customers.
Sometimes, the products do not fulfil the requirements. It can be a fatigue failure in an axle, a plastic clip which fails when mounting or an electrical circuit card that gets overheated. In these kind of situations we are experienced in finding the cause and suggesting solutions for the problem.
We have several tools and methods for optimization of our costumers products. Typically, the task is to minimize the weight or to choose the most profitable material. But it could also be to calibrate a certain material model against test data. The optimization procedure is advantageous to use early in the project in order to find the best concepts. But it is also used later in the project to decide cheat thicknesses etc.
We help our customers with the requirements of the product. It often involves braking down the global requirements or the products real life loads into simple load cases on part level. We suggest relevant safety and load factors, often according to standards such as Eurocode and DNV.
We produce final reports and simulation animations requested by the customer. For most of our customers, a high quality documentation is important for external and internal communication. For some products, there also legal requirements. We have an internal documentation policy which secure the performed work and makes it possible to quickly access it later on.
We can virtually compare different concepts. In this way it is possible to compare the properties of the concept even if they do not exist in reality.
We support our customers who wants to perform own calculations and simulations. It could for example be to suggest the most appropriate software or setting up simple hand calculation formulas.
The requirements of our customers product developments is in general increasing over time. Time, cost and environmental issues are continuously driving the demands. This in combination with the increasing computer capacity and software development makes the need and opportunity for simulation consciously increasing. Products and properties that earlier only could be evaluated with physical testing is now possible to simulate. We help our customers with method development in order to do more and also more accurate simulations. It could for example be, calibration of material models, setting up boundary conditions or defining load cases.
